You know what they say, "keep your cards close to your chest" but in the case of Sarah Levy's Chest Bag, that means, literally, your bank cards and possessions because this is as close as it gets. Having recently launched in Selfridges as part of their sustainable initiative Project Earth, this accessory-meets-art leather bag was "designed to offer a material solution, both practical and offbeat, to our contemporary habits," says Sarah, winner of the Public and City Prize from the Hyères Fashion Festival 2019, where we first discovered her

The harness bag is made from deadstock leather from the iconic French leather house Maison Delvaux. Using off-cuts and "waste" material is one of the steps Sarah has taken to ensure that the Habit series (including the Chest Bag) is reflective of her own commitment to sustainability. With 4 colours to choose from – black, red, camel and light blue – we reckon that even if you opt out of stuffing the breast pocket with your essentials, it makes for a pretty sleek upgrade to a simple tee and jeans outfit.

If you're a phone-in-the-hand, wallet-in-the-pocket kind of person or a streetwear bum bag fanatic, you'll love the snug and light fit; just tighten the harness and you've got both a practical accessory and eye-catching bustier on your hands (or should we say chest?) You might catch a few curious stares as you go to reach for your phone but given that Sarah's aim was to "reconcile strangeness, humour and comfort", it's safe to say that's part of the fun.

Stay tuned for the Hyères Festival this coming October as Sarah is set to bring us more "artwork accessories" in the form of hats and gloves, and if they're anything like the unique Chest Bag, we'll be keeping our eyes peeled.
