Because there’s no place quite like the Great British high street – from its niche independents, to seasonal pop-ups and those expansive yet elegant department stores – Because Magazine has been on a mission to champion the bricks-and-mortar of London retail in all its glory. And now with our revamped Store Stories feature, we're taking you with us on a shoppable 3D tour of our favourite retail destinations – a high definition taster of what you can experience IRL without having to leave your home! Next in line is the Maison Rabih Kayrouz store on Mount Street. Take a walk with us now!

Last February 2020 on a grey winter day, we entered the newly opened Maison Rabih Kayrouz store in Mayfair, completely unaware of the fact that it would have to close its doors just a few weeks later. Fast forward a year and a half and we're delighted to be back in the boutique, which is just as beautiful as how we remembered it to be.

Self-described as the MRK "universe" by the designer Rabih Kayrouz, it is not only filled with breathtaking garments, but there are artworks, jewels and calm spaces at every turn. The Paris-based brand has long been known for its expansive minimalism – generous in their decadent fabrics and silhouettes yet its the smallest details, such as a neck gathering or balloon sleeve nipped at the wrist which are the most obvious embellishments – and for the designer's own generosity of spirit. Having endured a traumatic 2020 with the destruction of the flagship store in Beirut, due to the explosion in the Beirut port, it's a wonder to see such beauty continue to flow from the designer's mind.

We've always loved Rabih's way with jewel-toned hues and expertly crafted silhouettes, and his dresses are luscious and easily styled for day (imagine belted, with sandals) to transform into perfect evening wear with a change of jewels and heels.

Clever twists on classics, whether sliced trenches or full-skirted double breasted trench coats - the collections' pieces are familiar with a hint of mischief.

There's even a new Bridal section to the boutique, with dresses you'll want to wear on your big day and with an easy colour change, they are perfect to bring back out for any event. Maison Rabih Kayrouz is a brand to invest in for a lifetime.
