When a life of lockdowns entered our world, we had to decide between indulging in the plethora of fast food options on Deliveroo or coming face to face with our cooking skills shortcomings. Even if you can whack out a decent bowl of pasta, nothing beats a tried and true meal from your favourite restaurant!

Luckily, London eateries have caught onto our culinary desires and have created restaurant kits of their best dishes so that you can still savour their signature flavours but from the comfort and safety of your home. Read on to find out what the Because team is ordering!

I have loved Comfort & Joy by Jikoni London - I mean, the reason is in the name! Delicious vegetarian Asian-inspired dishes that pack a punch of flavour. I never knew that I could crave silken tofu but there is something in the sauce that accompanies it that makes my mouth water just thinking about it! I loved eating in at the Jikoni restaurant in Marylebone and their quick pivot (and 100% recyclable/compostable packaging) made it a dine-at-home treat favourite when they launched. I plan on continuing my at-home Jikoni dinner treats even when in-dining opens up as there is so much comfort and joy sitting on your couch, watching TV and eating the most delicious meal prepared with love.

Anyone that knows me will knows that my predilection for pasta is like no other. So when I was first introduced to Lina Stores – a pasta restaurant that encourages multiple plates of food to be shared – I instantly fell in love. Over lockdown, I've been subduing my cravings with their pasta kits, which includes a selection of fresh pastas and their iconic sauces. Expect to find me on April 12th sitting on the terrace of their Kings Cross branch, devouring multiple plates of pasta with an Aperol Spritz in hand. Bellissimo!

Before being introduced to Dishoom, I was unfamiliar with and frankly slightly suspicious of the concept of Indian food for breakfast. Turns out I could not have been more wrong! Ever since my first breakfast at Dishoom I have been hooked, and therefore disappointed when I found out they don't deliver for breakfast. Luckily, they do have DIY kits for both their famous Bacon Naan Rolls and new Vegan Sausage Naan Rolls. Not only are they incredibly delicious, but they're also super easy to make, with all ingredients freshly sent to you from the Dishoom kitchen– and for all us visual learners who aren't the best at following recipes, you can also find a step by step guide on their website.

If you want to turn it into a celebratory brunch, the kit can be upgraded to include their signature marmalade mimosas too, or on the house, a loose leaf tea and Chai spices for an easy and delicious at home Chai Latte. And finally, best of all, for every kit sold Dishoom donates one meal to Magic Breakfast, a UK based charity providing healthy breakfasts at schools to children living with food poverty. An all-round winner in my books, I will definitely keep the at-home kit in my repertoire for brunch parties or when those infamous lines for breakfast at Dishoom inevitably return!
