This week, Cecilia Portela continues the #WomanCrushWednesday chain with her nomination...

Montse B.

CAREER// Ceramist and Founder of Philo K.

WHY// Her ceramics transmit so much calmness and a sense of balance...

I discovered Philo K on Instagram and I felt immediately attracted to the beauty of her work and inspiring aesthetics. When we met in person a few months ago, I realised that her pieces and space were an expression of herself.

The first time I entered her shop in Gràcia, Barcelona, I found it hard to handle so much beauty. It was literally jaw-dropping. She welcomed me very kindly and we had a long touching conversation over a cup of tea. We connected straight away. I often wish we lived closer.

She will be moving back to Turin (Italy) soon, the place where she discovered her passion for ceramics, 12 years ago. She’ll exchange her brick-and-mortar in Barcelona for a studio overlooking the Alps and a virtual store, which I’m very much looking forward to.

Besides a wonderful ceramicist, Montse is also an illustrator and a floral counselor. But most of all, she is an example of kindness and honesty.

She is delicate, strong, wise, talented and committed to doing things her way, which is something I truly admire. Montse has a special sensibility and this can be appreciated in the impeccable finishes of her pieces. I find it a true gift to have women like her in my life.

Follow Montse via her Instagram here @philokstudio – and be sure to tune in next week to see who she will be nominating as her #WomenCrushWednesday...
