A glance around Glastonbury 2024, or indeed at any festival over the past few weeks, and something was confirmed anew: co-ords are the defining staple of this summer. Peachy Den’s cult sheershucker sets were particularly hard to miss, as the style set descended upon a summer of galavanting the festival fields. 

A great co-ord, two-piece, matching separate set or whatever you want to call it, is undeniably good when in a slump about deciding what to wear. The easiest thing to style – just chuck on a tank or T-shirt and you're good to go with an outfit that’s instantly cohesive. No more agonising over mismatched separates, the dreaded pile of discarded clothes on the bedroom floor, or the frustration that looms when deciding what to wear and how to wear it.

Festivals are a fitting example of when a two-piece is at its best. Hassle-free packing, freeing up much-needed bag space and no full-length mirror needed to know that the outfit works. Holidays, when you’re cramming your stuff into the confines of a budget airline carry-on, are also natural territory for a multifunctional, matchy-matchy wardrobe. 

Peachy Den offers its Cindy co-ord in three colourways, Humbug, Lido and Parasol, with the options of capri trousers or hot pant bottom half meaning there’s something for everyone. But they’re not the only ones, Mango x Siedrés’ collaboration brings us vibrant summer sets in bold hues and playful prints, while COS delivers sleek, breezy linen sets that are both chic and comfortable.

The SS24 runway is what inspired the trend, featuring MSGM’s playful blue two-piece, a personal favourite, and Gucci’s sophisticated block colour hotpants and cropped jackets, now firmly on our wishlist. REMAIN showcased a grey-tailored look ideal for summer, while Tom Ford introduced us to velvet summer suits.

For those with a romantic inclination, Versace offered twin sets and two pieces evocative of an Italian summer, while Simone Rocha presented breezy bloomers and fluid silhouettes. Yuhan Wang’s fantasised about the old English summer, plucking strawberries and blooms for prints.

Our advice to you: incorporate a selection of co-ords into your summer wardrobe for all occasions. They promise a smoother start to your day and a guaranteed feel-good look, every time.
