Did we just find the ultimate clothing illusion? Barrie’s latest collection is a denim dream at first glance, but we had to do a double-take to realise it was in fact the intricate weave of cashmere. Who knew we needed denim’s utilitarian cool reimagined into a soft, luxurious alternative? Well, Barrie did.

Their most iconic ‘trompe-l’oeil’ design, the denim jacket, takes centre stage in this capsule collection, paying tribute to the brand’s perfect marriage of technique and heritage. As Barrie’s Creative Director Augustin Dol-Maillot explains, this isn’t just a jacket; it’s a tribute to the brand’s DNA. Cashmere and denim may seem worlds apart, but both materials are natural, durable, and grow more comfortable with time. This collection is designed to be cherished like your favourite pair of worn-in jeans – a true “purchase with purpose” that you’ll wear and pass down for years to come. Whether sitting at home by the winter fire, or frequenting wine bars with friends, it is the perfect blend of luxury and cool comfort. 

From the distressed, frayed-look stitching to the customisable brown "jean tags," each illusionary jacket requires around nine hours of expert craftsmanship, going through a meticulous nine-step process to achieve its flawless weight, drape, and texture. Even the colour palette has been thoughtfully crafted, with denim-inspired shades like indigo and stone-washed blue that fool even the keenest eye. The collection doesn’t stop at jackets though; you’ll find an overshirt, flared trousers, skirts, and matching shorts to create a coordinated look or even a mix-and-match style. We’re already dreaming about the matching Blue Thistle set.

Selected as ambassadors for the collection, artist and activist Amrit and actor Lewis Gribben bring their unique styles and personalities to the outcome, sitting down to discuss their thoughts.
