    Peace

One of the difficult things about writing about music, especially when blogging, is that you don't really get enough time to sit and down and consider exactly everything you need to consider about a band before rushing into some kind of judgement about them. So I'll just be honest and say I can't quite make up my mind about Peace; their hair, style and clothes remind me of all the reasons to avoid walking down Dalston's Kingsland Road at the weekend and their afro rhythms so ruthlessly poached that any debate about cultural tourism would leave them with little to no defence. Yet somehow I can't help think of them as the new Happy Mondays, part of some weird re-imagined trip down early 90s pills and excess, and their Delicious EP features a cover of Binary Finary's trance classic '1998', so I'm not entirely willing to write them off.

    Hatcham Social

Hatcham Social have had a particularly odd career to date, they were lumped in with the South London Angular scene from the outset, and there's nothing like being lumped in with that lot to get buried amongst the plethora and almost forgotten. They released a few amazing singles, one average album, and promptly disappeared. It would appear they're back and have gone all synth pop though. It works surprising well, and 'All Summer Long' draws further links between the band's 80s outsider weirdo chic, all disaffected pop melodies, messy black hair and messy black clothes. It's a quite wonderful seven minute long piece of oddball pop perfection.

    Shelter Point

When Hotflush released Joy Orbison's 'Hyph Mngo' it blew the sonic possibility of dubstep wide open, and in rushed a hoard of laptop wizard's armed with ideas, about nostalgia, time and space, silence and sub-bass. New Hotflush signings Shelter Point are keeping that flame alive with Braille, a delicate and precocious ode, almost an homage to the idea post-dubstep itself.
