    Efterklang

Last week Efterklang debuted their new album at the Sydney Opera House. Piramida, as the album's called, was inspired by a trip to Piramiden, an abandoned Russian mining settlement on Spittsbergen, an island just outside the Arctic Circle, which is home to more polar bears than people.

Efterklang recorded the whole project in situ, on Spittsbergen, and then turned those sounds in Piramida, the debut track to be released, The Ghost, whets the appetite for what'll hopefully be an incredible record.

They play the Barbican Centre on the 30th of October

    R Stevie Moore

The range of superlatives and epithets and monikers we could attach to R Stevie Moore would turn this blog posting in an essay. Over a career spanning 30 years and about 400 albums he's probably most commonly known at 'the godfather of home recordings' and much of today's DIY / Underground draws inspiration from his record and release ethos, no often without Moore's droll sense of humour and intuitive knack for creating wonderful songs.

In anticipation of his performance at Field Day tomorrow, Stevie has decided to give away one of his most recent albums, 'Please Leave', for free. Get it here.

    Four Tet

Washington DC post-hardcore band Fugazi were famous for their ethical approach to touring; all shows were all ages and affordable. Inspired by a Fugazi show he saw in Brixton for a fiver, Kieran Hebden, aka Four Tet, has decided to give it a bit of a go himself; "I saw Fugazi at Brixton in the 90's... £5 ticket, no light show, no bullshit... one of the best things I've ever seen. This is kind of inspired by that I guess" - and with a full line up of Ben UFO, Floating Points, Four Tet b2b Caribou, James Holden, Pangaea, Pearson Sound, it's actually shaping to be the best night of dance you'll ever see for five pounds.
