Ripped straight from Benji B's Radio1 show, comes three tracks from the new Actress record on Honest Jon's. The follow up to 2010's 'Splazsh', this new record is, from the sounds of this preview, a wholly darker affair, and with a title like R.I.P that's probably to be expected.

Where 'Splazsh' bubbled and hummed like a living, breathing, techno organism, 'R.I.P' skulks and swoons, hides in dark corners. 'Ascending' is so delicate and subtle, Actress gently probes at it, that if any force was put upon it then it'd collapse. Caves of Paradise owes a clear debt to the psychogeographical bass of Burial, whilst Iwwad may start off like a it's going to drop into a standard techno affair, but it's really on the brink of collapsing in on itself, using only its sample to stay afloat.

Feel My Bicep is one of the best blogs around, mixing up minimal house, deep groves, edits, disco, and just general oddities that fit somewhere within that pattern. It works incredibly well.

They've just made the move into production, and the curatorial taste of their blog is reflected in Stripper, described as an 'ode to sleazy, 90's Jersey house' it's on a par with everything that's come out in the house world recently. Maybe only beaten by My Love Is Underground Paris' 'Hardcore Deep House' from last year, and it sits in similar territory.

It's clocked up 32,000 soundcloud plays in the last eight days. Which is frankly incredible, and all the evidence you need for it's quality. It's out next monday, so join the queue for 12"s here

We featured Cymbals in Tank last summer, they were recording the follow up to their debut 12" on a ship in the docklands, it was almost finished. Yet a while later the boat sank, recording was pushed back, they got a new member, and so it follows that now Cymbals second 12" is finally finished and getting released. It's a testament to how long we've all been waiting for it that already sold out a month before it's even been released.

'No Bad Decisions' is brilliantly built around a rhythm percussively strummed on a treble-laden guitar, and in true Cymbals fashion, it's an homage to revisiting the rose-tinted memories of youth.
