The Brooklyn-based and Canadian-born duo of vocalist Sarah Ruba and producer Adam Pavao's duo New Look are almost unfathomably cool. Last time I saw them live I spent the whole show open-mouthed like a mortal who Aphrodite has deigned to appear in front of. Not only are Ruba and Pavao heartcrunchingly beautiful, but so is the most they make. Beautiful in a sad, lonely way; cold synth lines and minimal clicks of beats, and Ruba's towering voice that weaves around Pavao's production like a black cat strutting around a white, clean, New York loft apartment.

NTS is currently the Capital's premier, not-quite-pirate radio station. Based out of a small unit in Dalston's Gillet Square, since its launch last year NTS' online radio station has been a total revelation. With a range of shows that blend genre, style, time and locations NTS' output treats music as joyful expression not bound by the traditional pirates' or FM broadcasters M.O.

To celebrate being a year old, they've put together an incredible line-up; A Guy Called Gerald, Marcellus Pittman, Veronicka Vasicka, and more all playing a secret location. It's also BYOB, which is great.

There comes a point with bands when, after a few years or bubbling away quite unheard by the wider world, that the stars align and it looks like they'll be pushed towards crossing into mainstream consciousness. This moment appears to have come for production/vocal unit Azari & III. The Toronto four-piece (two singers, two producers) have been around since 2009, but with recent support slots for Madonna and their debut record getting a re-release on Island, it seems they'll soon be pushing further up the charts.

Which is only fair really, as they make classic disco infused house tracks, a la Hercules and Love Affair, and there's no reason these guys can't bring vogueing back.
