Dropped Pianos
Canadian experimental sound artist Tim Hecker has just released a collection of musical sketches titled 'Dropped Pianos' a sister album to the jaw-droppingly beautiful 'Ravedeath, 1972' that came out earlier this year (we featured it in Tank's summer issue).
Tim Hecker's Ravedeath album was an abstract series of drone-like
organ compositions, mainly recorded in Iceland; subtle, affecting,
reverential. 'Dropped Pianos' is no different, and even if it's
billed as a series of 'sketches' it doesn't feel half-finished or
even like you couldn't enjoy it without having heard Ravedeath, it
is more that the ideas contained on Ravedeath have spilled over
into a new LP.
And anyway we're just thankful Tim Hecker's back with new
music.
