Waters is the new recording project of ex-Port O'Brien man Van Pierszalowski. Pierszalowski has an intense and impassioned presence, bubbling with a Conor Oberst-like spark that tears through each track with unrivalled energy.
Mixing overdriven, janglning guitars and crashing drums with
dynamic, indelible melodies, his debut record 'Out in the Light'
ranges from barrelling, grunge-sheathed pop, to haunting soaring
tracks; from rolling, catchy anthems, to a quieter and ruminative,
aching beauty. Throughout, Pierszalowski's sanded, reedy tenor
sings about starting over, jealousy, and yearning for an easy,
steady life.
He's currently in England playing his debut solo shows, you can see Waters play at the Old Blue Last tonight, and at Cargo on Wednesday with EMA.
