Waters is the new recording project of ex-Port O'Brien man Van Pierszalowski. Pierszalowski has an intense and impassioned presence, bubbling with a Conor Oberst-like spark that tears through each track with unrivalled energy.

Mixing overdriven, janglning guitars and crashing drums with dynamic, indelible melodies, his debut record 'Out in the Light' ranges from barrelling, grunge-sheathed pop, to haunting soaring tracks; from rolling, catchy anthems, to a quieter and ruminative, aching beauty. Throughout, Pierszalowski's sanded, reedy tenor sings about starting over, jealousy, and yearning for an easy, steady life.

He's currently in England playing his debut solo shows, you can see Waters play at the Old Blue Last tonight, and at Cargo on  Wednesday with EMA.

The Manics have just announced a 38 song single retrospective, featuring every single the band has released in their twenty three years of existence. To celebrate this they are playing a show at 02 where they'll play all of those singles.

It's hard to talk in detail about those twenty three years, or at least to take in everything, from Blackwood in suburban Wales, to underground fame, controversy, inconoclasm, the disappearance of Richey Edwards, becoming a mid 90s chart straddling arena rock act to being the first western band to play a show in Cuba in 2001 and numerous reinventions over the last decade.

Then there is the numerous stylistic shifts, from their early days as a punk band, to the heavy glam rock of their first two albums, to the darkness of their most critically acclaimed album The Holy Bible, which the track below, Revol, is taken from.

London promoters Sexbeat bring their one-day festival, Radfest, now in its 3rd year, to Peckham's premier Warehouse Space, the Bussey Building. A brilliant, maze like 1000 capacity space that in previous lives has variously produced ammunitions and cricket bats, but is now a hive of artists studios, a gig space and drum'n'bass hole that has been the venue for some of the best shows of the past few years. Radfest looks to continue this, with Indie pop legends The Wedding Present, playing a hit parade of early material from the seminal albums George Best and Bizarro. Rounding off the line-up are hardcore punks Trash Talk and Mob Rules, darkwave pin-ups SCUM and lo-fi golden boys Mazes.

It's all taking place on August 21st, and as well as the music there'll be a pop-up record store, zine fair, vegan bbq and a free mixtape. South London is the place be.
