Omi Palone is Polari slang for a homosexual man apparently, which is frankly a brilliant name for a band. Omi Palone, too, are one of my favourite new British Indie bands at the moment, especially as they are working in a genre that's not really been throwing up much great stuff for the past few years. As the more interesting underground fringes seem to have moved towards dubstep's numerous offshoots, the mainstream of indie has been churning out some uninspiring dross designed to move stadiums and make money rather than move and inspire minds, and then also the underground too, has shifted into California aping lo-fidelity Dalston clique.

So as the first chords of 'Fire Escape' kick into life its like a giant sigh of gratitude that emanates from these exhausted ears. Omi Palone, make great use of their simplicity, its an uncomplicated stripping back of years of sound and acquired cliche, leaving the bare minimum of guitar, bass, drums, and a rich baritone vocal, that wraps around cymbal crashes and is stalked by the lead guitar's treble.

These three tracks are taken from their first recording, a demo entitled 'At Soup'.
