Menswear designer Matthew Miller teamed up with Timberland to design the footwear for his AW13 collection, which was shown yesterday at London Collections: Men. Out stomped workwear boots with chunky red treads and another bright red pair. But though these quirky takes on the tan classic are just for the flashing runway lights, it could inspired a little DYO.

That's 'Design Your Own', a tool launched by the brand that customers can use to get creative and customise their boots to their own requirements. For anyone who has ever come across a pair of shoes that could have been perfect if only there wasn't that one small detail, then this one is for you. Sunspel’s new menswear range has been a lesson in patience for the British heritage brand. Their new basics: button-fly boxer shorts, briefs, a vest and a T-shirt are all made from Sea Island cotton – the highest quality cotton in the world that’s finer and softer than cashmere. But this premium fabric is hard to come by. Sunspel’s cotton comes from one of the original Sea Island plants – the Montserrat - on a tiny farm in Jamaica. But with only three sites in existence, the process from picking cotton to final product is lengthy. In fact, the range has taken the brand several years in development. “Sea Island cotton is incredibly luxurious. The level of care that goes into this process is rather like the efforts that might go into the creation of a fine French wine,” explains CEO Nicholas Brooke. Back in the factory in Derbyshire it then takes nine people to produce just one T-shirt for the collection. But all good things come to those who wait, and happily the range launches in time for Christmas.

The Sea Island cotton range will be sold through a small number of retailers, including the brand’s flagship store in Soho, starting at £85 for briefs.

Proms, weddings, bar mitzvahs and yes, Christmas celebrations, all call for Rat-Pack immaculate tuxedos. A pale blue shirt with concealed buttons is also part of the set and there’s even a matching cummerbund and bow tie.
