Itchy Scratchy Patchy x Studio Calm & Collected
In the latest killer collaboration, Itchy Scratchy Patchy (founded by supermodel Edie Campbell and Christabel MacGreevy) have joined forces with South London graphic design duo Studio Calm & Collected to create a collection of patches inspired by the way we consume images today.
Aesthetically amusing yet powered by an intriguing concept, the designs feed into an interesting topic about how social media apps such as Instagram have heavily contributed to the way we now understand and produce images. As internet users are bombarded with an assortment of heterogeneous pictures on a daily basis, the collection takes influence from this arbitrary mixing of high and low culture via the art of collage. The result? A selection of contrasting patches and designs that mix renaissance icons and segments of the Sistine Chapel with Japanese vending machine visuals and noodle packaging.
These fun, bright and ornamental patches have been added to pairs of reworked and reclaimed Levi’s denim jeans and jackets and the designs have also been added to T-shirts, sweatshirts, sheer mesh tops and socks. In addition, Itchy Scratchy Patchy and Studio Calm & Collected have worked with Dickies to produce a limited number of printed boiler suits that have been playfully decorated and adorned with the comic-like illustrations. Embodying a DIY spirit and championing an uninhibited style of dressing, this upbeat collaboration has taken a light-hearted observation about our everyday image consumption and turned it into a zesty collection of playful garments.
