There’s only sunny skies and clear waters on Maje’s horizon. 18 years after launching the brand, the brand’s artistic director Judith Milgrom is expanding into the world of denim. But it’s not about a pair of basic jeans – it’s a fashion story made in that effortlessly French  Maje way. The first denim capsule collection consists of nine pieces inspired by the blue skies and indigo waters of the French Riviera, taking the idea of patchwork to a new, polished level – away from grandmother’s quilts and 1990s dungarees.

With its elongated silhouettes and crisp, graphic textile treatments, the cut-and-sew technique brings an urban edge to the Côte d’Azur. For this summer, the large hats and white linen jumpsuits are swapped with a patchwork kimono-style jacket and a multi-coloured mini-skirt. But if you’re away from the beach, worry not. The pieces look as good with a tailored pair of trousers as they do worn over a bikini. The patchwork shift dress is a great nod to the 1960s that can be layered over a t-shirt and a pair of jeans for a look ideal for the springtime sun.
