With London in the thick of a heat wave, we headed to Birdies Crazy Golf Club, perched on a rooftop in Stratford, for a round of our favourite novelty sport, crazy golf. Cocktails were drunk. Hotdogs were eaten. Balls were lost.

Palazzo pants, while a slightly less obvious choice compared to maxi skirts or sundresses, are just as comfy and versatile during summer. We love the raw edges, pleated details and exaggerated wide legs on this Chloé version, which will put your normal joggers to shame. And the striped, tiger-patch rugby jumper by Stella McCartney completes the high-fashion Sporty Spice look.

After spending the winter hidden away in The Vaults in Waterloo, the guys behind Rooftop Film Club brought Birdies Crazy Golf Club to Roof East in Stratford. The nine-hole course comes complete with loops, half-pipes and even an elevated five-foot drop onto the sixth hole, if you fancy a bit of a challenge.

As for food to keep you going, there are some posh hot dogs from RockaDollar Dogs (brainchild of Richard Sandiford, head chef of Hawksmoor Knightsbridge) as well as cocktails from Spirited Mixers’ pop-up bar. Resident DJs spin tunes through the night.

Birdies Crazy Golf Course is located on level 8, Stratford Multi-storey Car Park, Great Eastern Way, Stratford, E15. For more information on the summer schedule, visit www.birdiescrazygolf.com
