    Petit Bateau + Carven

They say opposites attract but what if two French fashion houses with distinctly shared values and aesthetics come together? When they are Carven and Petit Bateau, the result is a sleek, perfectly pristine set of clothes for women, men, boys and girls. Marrying Petit Bateau’s meticulous attention to quality and knack for Parisian style staples with Guillaume Henry’s sculpted, feminine silhouettes and shrunken tailoring for Carven, their limited edition collaborative collection encapsulates the “plus simple” philosophy of each brand to a poetic effect. From the berry-red, form-fitting short dress with a crisp Peter Pan collar, to the midnight blue shift dress dress with an alluring thigh-slit, to the detachable collar and adorable Breton-striped bodysuit; this collaboration gives us a lot to love and covet. The seemingly simple designs are rendered in remarkable detailed padded materials that ensure both comfort and a sharp finish, as well as that elusive “je ne sais quoi” air of ease. It just proves that two rights can make a right so befitting that it’s all we want to find in our Christmas stockings.

Available from 4th December in all Petit Bateau stores and online on Farfetch.com, from £42 to £210.

Santa Baby! Naomi Bikis' wish list

The second Christmas wishlist selection comes from assistant editor Naomi Bikis.

What's your party outfit pick this year?
I've been mildly obsessed with this shorts suit from Stella McCartney's Resort collection for some time. Present givers take note: this is top of my list!

    The must have beauty buy?
I am a big fan of red lipstick and have tried many shades and brands. My favourite at the moment is the matte Shanghai express shade from Nars.

    The Christmas jumper?
Love this snugly J.W. Anderson jumper and could wear this with just about anything.

    The winter coat?
It's a baby pink puffa jacket from Miu Miu. Of course it made the list.

The item of jewellery you like to find in your stocking?
Estelle Dévé makes amazing jewellery and I love this raw gold pyramid and chunky chain bracelet.

    The must have shoes?
Not sure how it's possible to single out just one pair... but these Sophia Webster heels are pretty special.

The greatest thing you could find under the tree this year?
    Socks.

    Margot Bowman for farfetch.com

Illustrator Margot Bowman is recalling why a Southern Hemisphere Christmas wins out over the icy north: “My most memorable Christmas was spent in New Zealand, where my mum is from. It was my first hot Christmas and I was sold,” says Bowman. “Santa is obviously great and everything but people are just glossing over the fact that it’s going to be freezing and dark for six months,” she says.

Perhaps this explains why Bowman is cheering up our British Christmas with an exclusive illustration, re-imagining traditional wrapping paper for online retailer farfetch.com. Together with Bowman, the site has enlisted three other artists: designers Meadham Kirchhoff, illustrator Gary Card and photographer Melinda Gibson.

Each creative has produced an illustration that customers around the world will receive as a complementary gift with every purchase from now until Christmas. Bowman's edition is themed around the idea of 'family'.

“The inspiration behind this work is the idea of being stuck at Christmas with these crazy people you are related to and that is what family is – letting those people be a bit crazy,” she explains.

Since graduating from Central St Martin’s Bowman has racked up an impressive list of clients from Alexander McQueen, the British Fashion Council to Mawi and Rupert Sanderson to name a few. Her career kicked off  while she was interning for fellow illustrator Kate Moross.

“Kate asked where my illustrations were in my portfolio. I was like “On no but I’m a graphic designer” and she explained, “No, you just need to do the thing you are really good at and be the best at the thing only you can do” and that was really the best advice I’ve ever received!”

Along with the exclusive prints, the three artists are also hosting a takeover on farfetch.com
