    Marques ' Almeida

It's fair to say that Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida of the label Marques ' Almeida, are a pair obsessed with denim, woozy nostalgia for the '90s and grungy youth. It's an infections preoccupation. Looking at their lookbooks and rails of oversized dresses, frayed jeans, distressed leather backpacks, hats and heavy soled shoes, a kind of carefree-cool permeates. Lulu Kennedy spotted it and snapped them up for Fashion East and as of last season they're going it alone showing to a venue packed with fashion editors and buyers.

The Portuguese duo and MA Central Saint Martins graduates make the kind of clothes that are all about attitude. You want to throw on a piece and become one of the many girls pinned to their mood board in the studio. So we headed to meet the designers to find out more about the label that we're all longing to wear.

    Myrza de Muynck

If you were a child of the '80 and '90s then you'll probably recall at some point wearing the shell suit. Perhaps you were paraded by your parents in matching family suits, maybe you got lucky and wore it in the football terraces or just remember it's crunchy, stiff fabric and jazzy neon colours. Whatever your recollections, the shell suit holds a fond memory for most and is generally an amusing piece of sportswear that you'll only don for fancy dress purposes. But young talent Myrza de Muynck is changing all that.

De Muynck is a designer with a fasination with the shell suit and what it represented in her native Holland during the '90s. Watcing tough girls head out in their suits to raves and the culture that surrounded them has inspired her collections. The CSM graduate, now working under her own label is taking the traditional shell suit and turning it into something quite beautiful. We went to this up and coming designer's studio to find out more about her life and work.

    Simone Rocha

Simone Rocha: unless you've been under a rock somewhere or in a monastery in outer Mongolia, there's no excuse for not knowing this designers name. Simone Rocha is the woman at the forefront of London's new wave of talent. Her work with textures, tulles, plastics and wools, chiffon and tailoring balances the tough with the delicate and ladylike. So loud is the furore surrounding Rocha after each season that it's easy to forget that she's not long established.

Some may have begrudgingly, with an eye roll thrown the "she's only famous because of her father" line at Simone Rocha, (she happens to be the daughter of John Rocha) but judging from seasons at Fashion East and her first go-it-alone show of late, this young designer doesn't need to hang on the coattails of family connections. With the strength of her work she's landed NEWGEN support, the BFC are behind her and fashion editors are filling editorials with her work.

We've been hooked on the collections she's delivered so far but wanted to know more. We headed to her studio, tucked away in a maze of other creative spaces, in (you guessed it) Dalston to meet her. Simone greeted us with rushed apologies about a leaking ceiling thanks to incessant rain and a throaty laugh one early morning. She talks us through her approach to her collections, inspirations and a certain after work activity that helps her relax.
