Prada may have inspired the fashion world to watch Grease on loop or wish that we owned Hot Rods and could parade across a garage forecourt in their spring/summer collection. But there was another offering from Miuccia that had snappy dressers swooning - Resort.

The American influences ran throughout with Elvis Presley inspired bejewelled jackets, Mad Men-esq skirt lengths and wallpaper prints worn by models perched on chairs in their stiff berets and cardigans neatly help up around the shoulders.

The garish floral prints of a dress in bright yellow and blue might have been found adorning the walls of a modern sixties home. And it's this little number that paired with Miu Miu earrings and strappy Manolo Blahnik heels that adds a playful little punch.

But getting dressed up like this prim and propper lady need not be reserved for lunches, what could be better to slip into for lounging around in the dim light of an afternoon in this.

Simone Rocha, London's new golden girl whose been busy ushering in a wave of innovation, is the designer to be decked out in for spring.

When it comes to dressing for that unpredictable season that can offer a hopeful glimpse of the summer to come or flash showers from heavy grey skies, the Central Saint Martins graduate is the go-to.

Her spring/summer 2012 collection saw delicate lace trapped between sheets of perspex in the form of skirts, shirts and trenches with her minimalism standing out amongst the London print scene. And it's from beneath the plastic of her trench that New York's offering's get a look in too. The bright yellow dress under the plastic is courtesy of Jason Wu with the gentle layers of chiffon giving an ultra-feminine feel. Wu is the favourite of groomed New Yorkers thanks to his red carpet show stoppers, ladylike dresses and precision tailoring. And together with the final touch of the Prada bag the polished cool look is complete.

Blustery days ahead or scorchers, it's Rocha and Wu that well be reaching for.

Tonight is the night that lovers will stare into each others eyes over candlelight, teddy bears holding hearts will be presented and carnations from the local garage will sell out. This is February 14^th after all, the date in the calendar when romantic (or really rather cheesy) gestures reign. But for those looking to make a more glamourous impression and tug at loved ones heart strings, slip into Preen.

Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi bring their edgy sophistication to a traditional kimono inspired dress with floral prints black silk. The demure hem line and high neck makes the thigh split all the more seductive.

Kissing the gobstopper sized Yves Saint Laurent ring is the androgynous date. For those who would shy away from feminine, girly pieces clean tailoring from Trussardi packs a punch.

Amidst all the declarations of love and endless stream of cards an opportunity to dress up should never be missed.
