The fashion crowds have descended on New York and the city's designers didn't disappoint with their collections for AW12.

Derek Lam brought a fresh approach to '60s shapes with pea coats and prim collars. Models carried ladylike box-frame bags and luxury embellishment ran across leather skirts embroidered with florals, sequins across tweed and smart gold capped shoes.

Young gun Wes Gordon showed uptown ladies and their daughters just what to wear for the chilly weather. Gordon's penchant for tailoring was seen in pencil skirts, flared and pegged trousers and ball gowns in sumptuous metallic golds, deep emeralds and wine reds.

DKNY

At DKNY, Donna Karan had models brave the sub zero temperates emerging from the cold in double breasted coats, furry jackets and puffers given New York sleek with wide belts. Animal prints and dusty grey roses against navy suits and dresses broke up the sea of black.

Felipe's inspiration for AW12 came from the brands 1966 designs for the French national ski team. Vintage alpine dressing went mini with teeny tiny figure hugging dresses with a utility edge.
