    Kiss Kiss

Pout, purse, and blow a kiss across the room in Prada's seductive little number. No it's not a failsafe LDB. It's not a bodycon, suck it in and push 'em up moment either. There's no low cuts and rising hem lines to rely on seduction, just a tongue in cheek Prada Resort 2012 print reminiscent of a slinky pajama two piece - and what could be more seductive than a garment that only gets an airing at bed time?

Pajamas have become an unlikely favourite for evening wear this season with the silk two piece working its way across the most fashionable dance floors. With an unmistakable pop sensibility, Prada's red kissers give a nod to the trend without looking as though you should be donning some slippers.

Team the print with lavish gold. Here the look is adorned with ornate crystal and stud cobra earrings and one sizable rock from Mawi. Keep hair and make-up on full volume and glamourous and always accessorise with a cocktail... or two.

    She was a Skatergirl

Thoughts this time of year might be a little closer to a fat man in a red suit and warm fur coats than endless summers, but as Resort 2012 hits, sepia toned '70s California beckons. Stella McCartney, Converse and Prada take on the skater girl spirit.

In a sea of pattern and colour, the loud Hawaiian print from Stella McCartney demands attention. For most, Hawaiian print conjures pictures of perma-tanned big wave surfers who've seen out decades in the same sun-bleached number. The faded print is associated with the freedom of a life spent bobbing on the cusp of a wave, not the sartorial efforts of the front row. But McCartney's talents have turned it into the most covetable piece of the Resort season.

Pulling at the same nostalgia that the Hawaiian shirt toys with are the chunky soled red Converse and striped Stella McCartney shorts. Grainy footage of Z-boys in empty swimming pools has us hooked to the idea of embodying a blonde female Stacy Peralta - whether we know quite what an Ollie is or not.

The finishing touch cutting across all that pattern and tomboy cool is Prada's floral mini bag. Its red and white flowers clash against the blue skies and palm trees, throwing a touch of femininity into the look.

So whilst the frost may be close, next summer come high waves or rubber wheels under hot tarmac, we'll be channeling this vibe.

    The Birds

There's a lot said about how to navigate tricky seasonal changes: when to stop picking over ice in stilettos, how to nail dressing in the schizophrenic weather. It can be a precarious business getting dressed in the morning during these autumn slash winter times. But a host of designers including Meadham Kirchhoff, Marni, Stella McCartney and Jason Wu are making it all rather easy.

Getting into the festive spirit is Jason Wu's hooded coat from his AW11 collection that embraced austerity and ladylike cut. The coat paired with the corduroy Mulberry skirt makes for a look with undertones of fairytales and boarding schools. Meadham Kirchhoff's shirt plays to this too with its ribbon detail at the collar. Cutting across all that prim wholesomeness, are the Dior laced up leather boots that stomp through the leaves and tough out any London winter.

Keeping that cold further at bay are the chunky knits. As winter knits go, scoring Marni's mustard bobble hat teamed with the grey Stella McCartney scarf is the ultimate in keeping snuggled and stylish. And never has looking as if you should be featured on top of a white Christmas cake been more appealing.
