    Summer Sunglasses

Flickering in the lenses of the baroque inspired Prada sunglasses 1960s classic, La Dolce Vita plays out. In the dim lights and hush of the cinema Marcello a young journalist is bewitched by star Sylvia. Rome's hot debauchery and decadency is captured in the flamboyance of Muiccia Prada's SS11 design.

South Pacific star Mitzi Gaynor stands soaping her hair and singing in the rims of the acid yellow Cutler and Gross glasses. Island life with it's backdrop of sun bleached brights and palm trees suits the pop of colour and a brand who take inspiration from the big screen.

Cut to Versace's pair where Donatella's finesse for fierceness and uncompromising sex appeal holds the dangerous, brooding and equally sexy Sin City.

Wether the sun shines or not sunglasses are the darlings of Hollywood. Oversized, dark and terribly cool they add mystery and film star status for all.

    Not so still life

If there was one woman who knew how to rock an armful of bangles it was Nancy Cunard. Rebel, activist and society-baiting heiress, Cunard amassed a collection of over 1000 bangles whilst exploring Africa during the 1920s, and she liked nothing better than wearing them in elaborate stacks on both arms.

As a friend (and sometimes lover) of surrealists including Man Ray and Luis Aragon, we think Nancy would have approved of this tongue-in-cheek take on the classic still life which disconcerts as much as it delights.

Against an all white background, each bangle is showcased as a work of art in its own right, transforming the mundane (in this case everyday homewares) into the marvelous.

Punk meets baroque in a black and gold candlestick fashioned from Nicholas King's resin-encased studs topped off with an elaborately monogrammed Chanel cuff.

Next up comes a less than stable lampstand assembled from Belmacz bangles, each one hand carved from wood collected on designer Julia Muggenburg's globetrotting adventures. Sparingly applied gold inlay and a solitary, blink-and-you'll-miss-it diamond are the epitome of refined luxury.

Drama comes courtesy of ghostly bookends bedecked with Erickson Beamon's lavish gem-set cuffs and the graphic silhouettes of Kara Ross' lizard skin bracelets.

Last but by no means least, a vibrant stack of enameled Hermes arm candy puts a modern twist on a traditional petal plucking guessing game. We love it, We love it not. We love it, We love, love, love….

    Disaya's treasures of the deep

Fantasy, fairytale and nursery rhymes submerge beneath the glittering Disaya sea. Into the deep the frothing bubble cuff sits embellished with stars whilst layers of blue and purple glitter on the seabed. Seahorses and shimmering fish weave between the oversized pearls and little gold owls perched on the oversized ring.

Golden owls nestle too in the coral-like branches of an earring and hoping to capture some of the treasure for himself is Disaya's sparkling midnight blue bear necklace as he bobs on the surface in his boat.

The fantastical creations are a beautiful and witty moment of escapism away from our sensible adult lives and into the land of play. 'Call of the Moon' is Disaya's AW11 collection inspired by myth and creatures of the night made in pearlised hand painted enamel.

After studying at Central Saint Martin's and working with John Galliano, Disaya launched lingerie label Boudoir by Disaya in 2004 before widening her product base and venturing into jewellery design. Her eponymous label of ready to wear costume jewellery is sought after for its quirky and unique playfulness.
