We Love
Magritte we tip our Lock & Co. hat to you
We've stepped into the weird world of the Belgian Surrealist Magritte where bowler hats, pipes and floating apples appear. Magritte's visual scenes have long been a reference point for fashion as fabrics and shapes are juxtaposed with the same dream like aesthetic. (Just take a look at Viktor & Rolf or Comme des Garcons for clues).
Here the James Lock & Co. bowler hat sits perched and high while the cropped pop of the Paul Smith trousers leap from the painting. The TIBI coat running from wool to fine, almost dripping lace sits delicately against the shock of red. The sheer peep of the top is an Eudon Choi creation.
From the mirror emerges the beautifully cut Miu Miu shoes in patent, slick black leather. On the lips the Ben Wade pipe produces a flock of birds.
But as surreal as this world appears this look is a simple moment of colour and clever play with proportions.
