Georgie loves this because...we may not have the endless locks to throw from towers, peas in our bedding or Prince Charming but this Jil Sander skirt from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection by Raf Simons can still make us feel like we've jumped from the pages of a fairy tale. As we head into (fingers crossed) summer the maxi still reigns in the high street and across the catwalk, but this isn't your usual floor sweeping number.
It's generally a minefield picking the right maxi. Too tent like and you're in danger of being offered a seat on the bus. Too tight and we'll know what you had for breakfast. But this voluminous silk-taffeta skirt with bold pink horizontal stripes and the only-for-the-brave sheer vertical top makes making the right statement easy. The gathered waistline provides shape, the volume offers impact and the fabric flatters. The brand synonymous with minimalism has delivered the perfect maxi with a colour pallet and cut that the Jil Sander faithful will adore. And we love, love, love it.
