Marc Jacobs is known for his quick eye for a trend, so when his models hit the autumn 2011 catwalk in chinstraps, rubbery sequins and more latex than you could crack a whip at, we knew raunch was here to stay. Dark undertones of dominatrix edge have been creeping under the surface for a while now. Givenchy's monochrome-leopard print fusion for spring 2011 was rounded off with zips galore and blacked out lips, and Zac Posen's girls tottered down the runway in strappy, sky-high, black-patent platforms. Following Jacobs' lead, we head into autumn this year with disciplined silhouettes, patent leather and bondage straps at the forefront of our minds.

Not likely to miss an opportunity to nurture their dark side, Alexander McQueen immediately got on board with black leather harnesses worn over everything and anything; from black fur-trimmed midi dresses to a floor length, studded lilac gown. Stiletto-heeled boots that laced up to the thigh made for the footwear of choice, a stark contrast from the butterfly-adorned shoes of the spring 2011 collection.

Thierry Mugler also took the S&M vibe to an all new high (or low, depending on how you look at it), with Lady Gaga growling at the front row, kitted out in a latex and sheer paneled bra-skirt combination, plenty of eye makeup and patent platforms that towered above the rest. Starting as he meant to go on, Formichetti left barely anything to the imagination with the rest of the collection, as models quite literally prowled down the catwalk drenched in latex and little else.

Louis Vuitton sexed things up with the best of them via suspender belts, sheer skirts, patent knee-high boots and a strict uniform of chin-strapped military hats. Combined with Versus and Givenchy's sheer paneling, Viktor & Rolf demonstrating the sex appeal of patent leather and Giles setting off their bow-adorned accessories with skin-tight leather everything, it would appear everyone's getting their kink on for autumn 2011.
