There's the old saying that reminds you how much better things are if you share. Do you remember those old exquisite corpse games that you used to play when you were younger? KK Outlet's Art Relay is a bit like that. It's a collaborative process that involves artists, designers, musicians and writers from across the world. Working in teams of four, one artist begins creating an artwork before sending it to a teammate, who then adds their own contribution. Once all four teammates have created a piece, the finished work will go on exhibition at KK Outlet's Hoxton Square home.
Ever the art cynic, the premise of the show has won over at least one new follower. The completed artworks are a mixture of graphic prints, photography, video art, sculpture and installation. Also, each piece must take its inspiration from the Olympics (come on, you must've seen the correlation by now…) It doesn't, however, have to be affirmative of the grand roving quadrennial. A wide range of contributing artists include Craig Oldham, Ill Studio, Thomas Mallaender, Max Lamb, Danny Sangra, Andew De Francesco…and many more. Delightfully, it's worth a look. (The only problem is finding someone who hangs around in Hoxton nowadays…)
Art Relay opens today at KK Outlet, and runs until 25 August.
