    Deliciously Desirable

This spring Dolce&Gabbana introduce Desire, the newest scent to join their hugely successful fragrance line The One. The feminine perfume is a bold edition, combining a light freshness with interjections of rich opulent notes.

Created with a powerful woman in mind, who is unafraid to embrace her emotions, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana play with the notions of desire using Scarlett Johnson as the embodinement of the desirable woman to front their campaign. When asked why they chose to focus on such a powerful feeling they described, “Everything starts with desire. There wouldn’t be seduction, sensuality or passion if it wasn’t for desire. For us, its always been fundamental to let this sensation go, to break the mold and live freely by emotions”.

Desirable this perfume most certainly is. With a bouquet of intoxicating, intense oriental floral notes Desire perfectly compliments The One fragrances it proceeds but takes on a lighter, more refreshing tone. Top notes of lychee, mandarin and bergamont and the soft flavours of lily of the valley are paired with a core of feminine florals: Madonna lily, Indian tuberose and jasmine. Add in the sweet flavours of plum nectar with rich base notes of vanilla infused with caramel, warm sandalwood, musk and Cistus Labdanum and the result is a heady intoxicating fragrance.

Staying true to their in house style Desire is packaged in a luxurious black and gold bottle. Inscribed with Stefano Gabbana’s elegant writing and a thick black gemstone that sits luxuriously upon the cap Desire is sure to have a multitude of women lusting after it.

Desire is available now in Harrods.

    By Kilian

By Kilian is the fragrance line from Kilian Hennessy whose mission statement is “to put perfume back on a pedestal”. A grandchild of the Hennessy cognac family, and an alumnus of the fragrance behemoth Firmenich, his fragrance line, though only five years old, is already known for its classical approach. The perfumes beautifully tackle difficult and traditional ingredients including oudh, tuberose and jasmine, proving its credentials as a serious fragrance house. There was surprise therefore, when Kilian announced that his latest launch was to be a trio of fruity florals inspired by tale of the fallen Eve in the Garden of Eden. The imagery seemed too camp from a brand, which has so far been dark, luxurious and very serious. Oh ye of little faith. “In the Garden of Good and Evil” is a collection of three fragrances that celebrate the aromas of fruit without a hint of sugar. Avoiding the usual sticky syrupy top notes (yes Z list celebrity fragrances, we’re looking at you) these fragrances have deceptively calm openings but are all about the heart notes warmed by body heat. The packaging steps away from the usual black lacquer cases and embraces gleaming white bottles in a case which doubles as a stunning off-duty clutch bag.

Called “In the City of Sin”, “Good Girl Gone Bad” and “Forbidden Games” these playful scents by By Kilian are available exclusively at Harvey Nichols. harveynichols.com

Mention super skincare creams and Crème de la Mer is one of the first names that spring to mind. Ushering in the age of the £100+ moisturiser, its international legions of fans swear by the effect of the “miracle broth” for fragile skin in need of TLC, solemnly referring to the products as a skincare investment. Exploiting this fanbase, the range has now expanded to a full skincare line including their new Soft Cream as a great option for those who found the original too rich in texture. To celebrate the range, the Crème de la Mer counter at the new beauty hall in John Lewis on Oxford Street is exclusively offering a one-hour facial treatments to try out the products within the range.  Starting with a cleanse and exfoliation, the treatment goes on to bathe your skin in copious amounts of the brand’s elixirs. The highlight is an eye massage using Crème de la Mer’s unique silver-tipped applicator, which soothes and de-puffs the delicate eye area. If your skin is suffering in the cold outdoor air and dry central heating, it’ll be an hour well spent.
