Get the look - Proenza Schouler AW11

At Proenza Schouler AW11 show, the ponytail was born again - this time as a fullsome knot, unravelling into soft, razored ends. Superstylist, Paul Hanlon envisioned the hair of a Navajo meets all American girl. Here's how Paul got the look.

    1. We added in 22-inch extensions around the crown of the head, paying special attention to any areas with shorter layers to achieve a long languid silhouette ready to pull back into this chic pony. But you can still allude to the look with mid-length and naturally long hair.

    2. Start by parting the hair slightly off center and apply Frederic Fekkai Coiff Strong Hold Volume Mousse to the front of the hair, forming a frame.

    3. Next, apply Frederic Fekkai Perfecteur Anti-Frizz Silkening Crème and Fekkai Salon Technician Color Care Anti-Fade Top Coat to the hair, ironing the front pieces to seal in sleekness and shine.

    4. Gather hair midway down the back and pull into a low ponytail and tie the end into a slight knot.  To finish the look, spray Frederic Fekkai Oceanique Tousled Wave Spray and Frederic Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray; this will create a dry, rough texture for the back of the hair that makes the style feel relaxed.

    Nars AW11 starring Mariacarla Boscono

Nars strikes again - a deeply dark and intensely moody collection of daring colours.

For the bold and avant garde faces, Outremer is the real colour statement of the season - a richly pigmented blue that can go from dark when applied wet and out to a diluted wash with a soft brush. A pulse-racing red lip or sophisticated - and timely - plum pout is also on offer, topped perfectly with the stormy gun metal grey nail lacquer. For day looks - and those of a gentler disposition - there are two oyster-themed palettes and a sparkling pink champagne lipgloss.

To further inspire excitement, the campaign image, shot by Francois Nars himself, features Mariacarla Boscono - suitably enigmatic and bubbling with dark secrets.

    Get the look:

Create an immaculate complexion, applying Siberia Sheer Matte Foundation to the center of the face with your fingertips, blending outward, and setting with Snow Loose Powder. To add contour to the cheeks, brush Oasis Blush just below the cheekbone and blend the colour toward the temple.

Prep your eyelids with PRO-PRIME Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, blending with a fingertip for a fresh finish. The colour is Outremer Single Eyeshadow on the lid, layering the colour to build intensity. Create a winged effect with the shadow from the inner corner of the eye and up along the outer corner toward the brow bone.

Line the upper lash line with Rue Saint-Honoré Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner Pencil and the lower lash line with Rue Bonaparte Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner Pencil to open the eyes. Blend the silvery taupe shade of Grand Palais Duo Eyeshadow along the lower lash line, extending the colour into the inner corner of the eye. Finish with two coats of Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara. Line and fill the lips with Fantasia Lipliner Pencil, blending with a finger to soften the colour, followed by Striptease Lip Gloss topped with Pago Pago Lipstick.

Get the look - Christopher Kane

Yesterday saw the SS12 collection from Christopher Kane waltz down the catwalk, but is real time, it's all about the ethereal, moonshine skin at his AW11 show. It makes the perfect break with tanning as autumn sneaks up on us. The legendary Lucia Pieroni collaborated with the Chantecaille family to conceive a natural yet highly polished look for Christopher's show.

"We wanted to create a cool, natural look, with a strong eye and soft lip," says Olivia Chantecaille, "The collection was less elaborate than previous seasons and we wanted the make-up look to be as wearable and sophisticated as the clothes." Here's how Lucia did it.

    1. Skin was prepped with Chantecaille's Rose Eye Make-up Remover, Flower Infused Cleansing Milk, Rose de Mai, Vital Essence and Lip Potion for a flawless finish.

    2. Chantecaille Future Skin was applied to even out the complexion, creating a dewy light texture. Chantecaille Aquablush in Brilliance was blended into the skin for shimmer followed by Chantecaille Bronzer in St Barths to contour under the cheeks.

    3. Chantecaille Shine Eye Shade in Meteorite was applied all around the eyes followed by the Pewter eye shade from Tiger in the Wild Palette - this shade was applied over Meteorite and blended around the eye.  To finish Chantecaille Shine Eye Shade in Rose Quartz was applied under the eye just below the lash line. Eyebrows were left natural - only filled in if required with Chantecaille Brow Definer - and no mascara was applied.

    4. Chantecaille Lip Definer in Nuance was applied followed by Lip Matte in Bloom for a neutral, barely there matte finish.
