Dior's makeup creative, the inimitable Tyen, often looks to
Christian Dior's archives for inspiration. This season he has
dressed the collection in the legendary Junon dress of 1949 -
swatches of grey tulle embellished with midnight blue sequins.
Paying homage to this midnight blue throughout the AW11 colour
collection, Tyen has spiked the classic Dior smoky eye with couture
shades of white, nude and silver, playing shimmer off against
First comes Dior Blue Tie, a palette of four eye shadows and a
gloss, available as light or dark (see image above). A pared down
option is the 3-colour Smoky palette, available in Smoky Black and
Smoky Navy (pictured below). Four additional shades of 3 Couleurs
Smoky will be introduced - Smoky Khaki, Smoky Nude, Smoky Brown and
Smoky Pink - plus Rouge Dior Haute Couleur Lipstick appears in
4 new shades of nude in beige and pink tones, the perfect foil for
all the Dior drama in the statement eye.
Finally for nails, two new blues: the metallic Tuxedo (image
below) and Blue Denim - a more glossy azure.
