There are few shoes more divisive than the Birkenstock and the ballet flat. They sit at opposite ends of the footwear spectrum, yet somehow they both define how many want to dress right now. Which is exactly why a collaboration between Birkenstock and Repetto makes so much sense. Two of the most storied shoe brands have joined together to fuse their distinct designs. The classic Birkenstock silhouettes have been reinterpreted with the classic Parisian charm that Repetto is famed for. The romance of ballet is mixed with the practicality and purpose of Birkenstock to blend the two initially differing aesthetics.

Despite their divergent styles, the houses both share rich histories. Birkenstock founded in 1774 has always led the way in their commitment to orthopaedic comfort and health, while Repetto born in 1947 has become a symbol of French craftsmanship. The latter can be credited for introducing the world to the ballet flat after making a pair for Brigette Bardot in the film, God Created Woman.

Designed in the Parisian Repetto studios and crafted in Birkenstock’s German workshops, the shoes are a product of European collaboration and expertise. The eternally recognisable Arizona sandal has been reimagined with sculptural buckles adorning them. The Scala is softened with toe straps and a bow, while the Opera Sabot style has been fused with ribbons that crawl up the ankle to mimic ballet slippers. The shoes are offered in the classic Repetto shades of pink, black and red.
