After founding his eponymous label in 1987, Richmond moved its base to Milan, but London never stopped calling. Last season, his triumphant return to London Fashion Week at Tate Modern reminded everyone why his name still carries that uncompromising, subcultural edge. Campaign visuals were projected on the museum walls as the Autumn/Winter 2025 collection debuted - a love letter to the city that first shaped him.

This season, the story deepens. Richmond is back in the capital to show his Spring/Summer 2026 collection,  bringing the faces of the London and international underground to the runway. The show will be followed by something even more in keeping with the spirit of the designer: a party.

For Fashion Week, Richmond has teamed up with the1989 - the Venice-based magazine and cultural force known for bridging underground creativity with global icons - to create a trilogy of events across London, Milan, and Paris. Their mission: to rewrite the rules of the fashion afterparty. Expect underground legends and future stars colliding with established icons.

London’s edition kicks off on Friday 19th September at Stereo Club in Covent Garden. The line-up is pure Richmond energy: Paul Simonon of The Clash and Carl Barât of The Libertines leading the charge, alongside Faris Badwan of The Horrors, Dan Donovan, and Solange Smith. New names Sophia Ziskin, Kelvin Bueno, and Charlie Gosling will step into the spotlight, while the night is immortalised by indie sleaze icon Cobrasnake.

In this editorial, the Because team chose their favourite pieces - statement coats and sleek tailoring, and shot model Summer around the streets of Fitzrovia, Central London. Because for John, it’s not just about showing clothes - it’s about channeling the spirit of punk into everything he does and the streets he knows so well. And in collaboration with the1989, this Fashion Week is set to prove that his world has always been as much about music, nightlife, and rebellion as it is about the runway.
