Jewellery that takes you places
Azza Fahmy opens their first UK boutique in Burlington Arcade
Symbols in gold, stories in silver. Azza Fahmy’s first UK boutique brings Egyptian craftsmanship and poetic design to Mayfair. Wearable history, told with intent.
For over 50 years, Azza Fahmy has turned ancient craft into modern design using ancient Egyptian symbolism and Arabic poetry, all translated into precious metals. With 24 stores across the Middle East and a devoted fan base that spans generations, the Egyptian design house has quietly built a recognisable jewellery signature, along with an international legacy. Each piece created is rich with meaning, handcrafted with expert intention, and now, finally available in London in their first permanent UK boutique.
For the uninitiated, Azza Fahmy was founded in 1969 by its namesake, a pioneering woman who challenged expectations long before ‘Girl Boss’ became a thing. Fahmy’s journey began when she stumbled upon a German book on jewellery design at a book fair in Cairo. What followed was a self-directed education, an apprenticeship in Khan El Khalili (Cairo’s famed jewellery quarter), and a career dedicated to preserving and evolving Arab and Egyptian craftsmanship. Fahmy didn’t just build a brand, she helped shape Egypt's luxury jewellery landscape, employing over 200 people and establishing the region’s first contemporary jewellery design school, the Design Studio by Azza Fahmy, in 2013.
While her designs have graced London Fashion Week and even found a place in the Louvre’s museum shop, this new flagship boutique marks a different kind of milestone. Tucked into the historic elegance of Burlington Arcade, the store is a quiet celebration of everything Fahmy’s brands stands for: heritage, symbolism and craft. The space itself mirrors the jewellery, timeless and considered, and features pieces from across the brand’s collections, many of which are inspired by ancient Egyptian motifs, Sufi poetry, and calligraphy.
Designed in collaboration with Universal Design Studio, the boutique trades flashy opulence for quiet details. A space where contemporary calm meets cultural memory. There’s a brass curtain etched with Fatimid geometric patterns, a lotus-shaped chandelier suspended like a symbol, and personal artefacts from the Fahmy family that make the store feel less like a boutique and more like an intimate gallery. Don’t miss the recycled tool sculpture and make sure to run your hand on the 3d embroidered wall created by Lebanese design duo, Bokja.
The jewellery is just as intentional. Inside, you’ll find a selection of high jewellery as well as the more everyday. Pieces crafted with precious materials and centuries-old techniques, alongside signature collections and bespoke designs, all stitched with stories, symbolism, and meaning.
Azza Fahmy’s jewellery isn’t about trends. It’s about storytelling through technique and modern day talismans. Handcrafted filigree, intricate inscriptions, and materials that speak to both identity and emotion. The opening of the London boutique brings a new perspective into the heart of Mayfair, and a presence that feels both overdue and refreshingly unique.
This isn’t jewellery you simply wear to adorn, it’s jewellery that takes you places. Learn more here.
