The Last Resort

As a brand known for its mini-theatrical productions during fashion week and sculpture-meets-jewellery accessories, Anna Jewsbury’s Completedworks has found a kindred spirit in Edward Vince. Sharing a passion for upcycling and recycled materials, Edward uses both material and cultural off-cuts to create new social narratives and perspectives. As a result, the artist, who graduated only this summer with an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art, will show a selection of his new pieces and work from the course at the Completedworks showroom, a space that does so much more than hold the staff and collections. 

A former pub, the showroom aligns with Completedworks' reductive aesthetic, a light, artistic enclave with preserved original features and some very modern additions. It's the perfect setting for an artist like Edward, whose work seeks to enter environments that are reconstructed from what we have left behind. Both his exhibition and the space itself highlight the intersections between past and future, offering an ideal space for reflection, questioning, and, let’s not forget, artistic appreciation.

Entitled The Last Resort, Edward’s exhibition draws on themes of environmental and social collapse, asking questions about our role in shaping - or surviving - the world around us. Its depth is anchored in the varied forms he uses to ask these questions; Edward works with various forms, including sculpture, photography, and print, to explore the multi-sensory memory. Ultimately, the exhibition forms a contemplative environment, one that blurs the line between destruction and creation, despair and hope.
