    Robinson Pelham store opens

When an extremely private, commission only British jewellery company decides to open a flagship store one knows this must be a brand that means business. Established 16 years ago, Robinson Pelham has opened its doors on Elsystan Street in Chelsea.

This bright contemporary salon furnished in opulent jewel tones is an inviting prospect to the sophisticated woman that the label's founders, Vanessa Chilton, Zoe Benyon and Kate Pelham Burn so expertly cater for. The boutique feels like a hedonistic members club, with lavish mock-shagreen walls and ostrich feather lamps creating a luxuriously compelling atmosphere of indulgence. Which is fitting as the gleaming wall cabinets house a mouth watering array of designs, most notable the Elystan Street collection which comprises of earrings and cocktail ring sets inspired by famous drinks, for when one is swigging one's Moscow Mule one had better have the finger candy to match. In this case an oval encrusted spiral of smokey, brown diamonds gleaming next to the 'Martini' another oval design glittering with flawless white diamonds.

Tipsy with temptation, more surprises can be found through the Willy Wonka like peep holes which seductively display a new bejewelled treasure every week. But the most enchanting thing of all is the attention to detail that the founders bring, whether its refashioning your old antique jewels or guiding forlone fiances in engagement ring design, this is truly a luxury jewellery experience – not to be missed.

    The Fantastical Flutterby Shoe

Lady San Pedro has been announced as the winner of the Cinderthriller international design contest with her fantastical Flutterby design. Founded by Alberto Guardiani and i-D Magazine, the competition aims to find the most innovative and creative shoe designers from around the world. With 700 designs submitted from over 50 nations it was no small feat for judges Anna Dello Russo, Georgina Goodman, Sarah from Colette and Andre Keith, with Rubina Guardiani and Terry Jones to whittle away the competition to find the 2012 winner.

But the wait was worth it. Young Philippine designer, Miss San Pedro's beautiful Flutterby shoe has been named as the new “It-Shoe” for Alberto Guardiani’s autumn winter 2012 collection. It is not hard to see why the Flutterby shoe captivated the judges’ imagination with the striking ruby red suede pump offset by a intricately hand painted butterfly wing. Intended to reflect the spontaneity and independence of the Alberto Guardiani woman through the flutter of wings, these shoes are as practical as they are picturesque. Centred with a steel post and solid heel these platform pumps will ensure that heads turn for all the right reasons.

The Flutterby red pump is available from Alberto Guardiani flagship stores, selected boutiques Colette and Corso Como and is available online this month. A sandal edition of the Flutterby in snakeskin and satin for SS13 will come out next year.

    Bling

From crystal-encrusted and clustered bracelets to geometric rings, bold metal pieces are de rigueur when it comes to making a statement this Christmas. Whether as a gift to yourself or someone special, a coruscating piece of jewellery is essential to be able to let go of everyday practicalities and truly embrace festive indulgences.

There is no better way to add a little (or, better yet, a lot of) sparkle in your holiday season. You can choose to be a bijou classicist and scintillate with an array of crystals, be it around your wrist with Miu Miu’s gold plated metal chain bracelet, around your neck with Prada’s brilliant plexiglass and metal necklace or discreetly from underneath your hair with Erickson Beamon’s petite but high-shine blue crystal and lucite hoops.

For the more audaciously inclined, the way to shine is through an intense beam of radiance that comes with unapologetically graphic pieces such as DJ by Dominic Jones’ sharp gold and enamel ring or Pamela Love’s bullet-shaped red jasper and bronze number. And for those for whom too much is not enough, our favourite French provocateurs Mouton Collet have come up with a layered spiky necklace in gunmetal and pearl python with enamel germanium tips that is sure to steal the show, along with any thrill-loving heart.
