Amber's News Flash- Mexico
Have you booked a summer holiday yet? a quick 5 day get away? Now you'll want somewhere with beautiful beaches but more to do than just sunbathe. Somewhere with adventure and culture and covetable crafts. If so I have just the destination for you, for I have just returned from the only place I immediatley want to return back to- Mexico.
A delicious paradox of a paradise just like the salt lining your margarita, danger and pleasure seem to sinfully harmonise in this culture-rich country. I steered clear of Cancun ( beside Le Blanc Spa) and headed to the spiritual magnet of Tulum, to the Papaya Playa Project a pop up hotel from the Design Hotel Group. Raw in every sense of the word including food and materials, this cast-a-way life was one for the daydreamers so I headed up to the Coqui Coqui Perfumery in Valladolid. A luxuriously spanish colonial style hideaway where fragrances such as tobacco and orange blossom were combined to poetic effect.
Talking of Poetry, in nearby Guatemala a small group of women have been traditionally weaving a range of Poetry Bracelets featuring lines from young brit poet Greta Bellamacina's debut book Kaleidocope. In an exclusive, fairtrade and charitable collaboration with MYFLASHTRASH.COM the limited edition poetry bracelets with empowering lines ('A Runaway of Glory' is a personal favourite) will be sold at various festivals this summer. Just as illustrators have come back into the fashion spotlight, this marks what we hope will be a fashionable poetry revival. So bring a little bit of South American poetic passion to your wrist this summer, you may not be in Mexico but hey, the Margarita you're holding will be just as delicious!
