    CARVEN

Carven's statement slingbacks have struck just the right balance between grown up chic with their square toe and girly with that giant bow.

Bows have been spotted nestled in updos, and adorning the front of pumps for a while but the French label's take on them for SS12 is the top of the picks. The Zingy yellow suede couldn't shoo the dull clouds of January away any faster.

Founded by couturière Carmen De Tommaso, the house of Carven has been revived by Guillaume Henry. Henry worked for Givenchy and Paule Ka, and with his appointment at Carven in 2009 has moved the label into casual and elegant ready-to-wear.

    LIAM FAHY

Liam Fahy has been living on the wild side since he was born in Zimbabwe in a snake farm. His love for anything exotic and conceptual seems to be built-in his DNA. So when it comes to designing original shoes with an elegant flair, London-based and emerging footwear designer Liam Fahy is the man for the job.

In a very limited edition collection, a favourite pick is an open-toe wedge bootie with a refined white leather laser-cut motif, which will compliment any romantic or bold flower print ensembles. As seen all over the catwalks next season at Prada, Celine and Prabal Gurung among others florals are very on-trend as well as pastel-coloured palette and clean silhouettes.

There's nothing better than a statement shoe like this one to make an impression at a summer soirée. Born and educated in Africa all his life, Liam Fahy travelled to England to pursue the renowned Footwear Design course of De Montfort University, which he graduated from in 2006. He launched his eponymous label in 2010 and has worked alongside some of the biggest names in the shoe industry with Rupert Sanderson championing the young designer.

    MARNI

Consuelo Castiglioni was one step ahead of the pack when she adorned these platform sandals with embellishments. It was a strong trend that emerged for SS12 as designers raided their craft boxes, layering garments with beads, gem and sparkles. These shoes have an elegant feel that you'd expect from the house with a dash of '60s thrown in. And if you can't bear to expose you're toes in the cold, wear these with tights and keep your skirts mini to complete the look.
