Sergio Rossi began his career in the 1950s working alongside his father, a shoemaker in Italy. In the summer of 1966, Rossi began selling his shoes to shops in Bologna. In 2008 Francesco Russo who studied at Milan's Marangoni Institute and has designed footwear under Stefano Pilati at Yves Saint Laurent since 2000 was named creative director of the label.
